First aid is defined as the immediate and temporary care given the victim of an accident or sudden illness until the services of EMS or a physician can be obtained. Basic policy will be to encourage all patients to handle any situation just as they would if not at the event, i.e., to call their family physician.
Prerequisites
Volunteers must be 18 years or older to work in the station. The Health and Safety Director must approve volunteers between the ages of 15 and 17. These volunteers MUST work under adult supervision.
Each staff person must complete an information sheet prior to working his or her first shift.
The minimum requirement to work as a First Aider is a current American Red Cross Standard First Aid Certification, with a current Adult CPR card.
EMT’s and nurses must present a current CPR card and proof of licensure.
Volunteers must complete an annual orientation prior to working their first shift.
